Christi Underdown

Christi Underdown, Cataloging Assistant, holds two Bachelor degrees in Journalism and English from Middle Tennessee State University and a Master of Science degree in Information Sciences from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Ms. Underdown rejoined the Center's staff in August 2007, having previously worked from 2003 to 2005 on the Kenneth S. Goldstein Collection of American Song Broadsides digitalization project. She brings an additional four years of experience working in public and academic libraries outside of the Center. Presently, she assists with the cataloging of Reading Room and audio-visual materials, creates and updates records for rare books in the Center's Special Collections, as well as assisting with the provision of reference services for Center patrons. Her present personal interests in Special Collections and storytelling ties in with her past studies as a Middle Tennessee Symphony and MTSU Orchestra classical violinist, folk fiddler, and pianist, leading her now to be an active participant in the Nashville bardic community.

Ms. Underdown is also a member of the Tennessee Library Association and the Special Library Association, Southern Appalachian Chapter, for whom she will be serving as President-Elect in 2009.
