Audio Services
Listening equipment available in the Reading Room supports all sound recording formats except 78 rpm, which must first be recorded to cassette tape by the staff. Listening equipment is available only for scholarly and research purposes, not for personal listening.
In addition to commercial sound recordings, the Center has a large collection
of archival audio and video recordings of performances, interviews, and
lectures.

| In addition to the dubbing fee, there may be a charge
for time spent locating and pulling materials, as well as auditioning time
in the Audio Lab. Hourly rate:$ 40.00 per hour.

All dubbing of items from the CPM collection must be in accordance with "Fair Use" provisions of U.S. copyright law. A signed "Reproduction Use" form must be on file before any work is performed. No copies will be made for personal use or private collections.
Remote Field Recording:
The CPM has portable equipment to record in a variety of settings and formats, ranging from simple single-mic, compact cassette situations to F-1 or DAT digital format using a 12-track mixing console. Remote recording is normally restricted to Center projects; any other use is by special arrangement, and rates are determined according to equipment needed and recording situation. All such situations require the services of the CPM audio engineer, with rates to be arranged. Labor is charged in addition to equipment rates. Expenses for food, travel and lodging are also additional.
Some equipment can, with the approval of the Center Director, be checked out to MTSU faculty, or to others engaged in Center-sponsored projects. CPM equipment is not, however, available for check out by students.
All original master tapes resulting from use of Center equipment are
to be deposited in the Center's archive. Arrangements can be made for reference
copies to be furnished to the original field researcher.

Legitimate non-profit organizations, public broadcasting, and academic users will be charged 50% of the regular charge for research services and audio services, provided the Center for Popular Music receives an appropriate credit line and is supplied with a copy of any completed product for the Center's collection. |
MTSU departments will be charged 80% of the non-commercial rates; students will be charged 50% of the non-commercial rates. |

Requests for audio and video taping will be filled within 5 working days. Services requiring a shorter turn around will incur an additional 50% surcharge. |
Payment for all services is required in advance of shipping. Large orders require a deposit prior to processing. All international orders require payment in U.S. dollars, and half the total must be received in advance of processing the order. Balance is due prior to shipping. |

All orders will be sent by the most economical method unless other arrangements are specifically requested. Shipping costs will be added to all orders. |
