Biographical Sketch:

Carl Tipton (1923-1989), fiddle and mandolin player, song writer and pioneer bluegrass showman, was a fixture on the Middle Tennessee music scene for more than forty years. He was best known for his long-running early morning television show which aired for twenty-five years over WHTN (channel 39), Murfreesboro TN. Scope and content:

Reel to reel tape copies of acetate discs of performances of Carl Tipton and others made by Center audio archivist Bruce Nemerov. Performers include Tipton, Billy Yearwood, Floyd Leonard, Henerson Davis, the Mid-State Quartet, and Pee Wee Brown.
 

A list of label, titles and performers on each reel follows.
 

Location:

Master tapes are filed by tape number with other archival audio visual materials. Reference cassette copies were transferred to the librarian.
