Scope and content:

2 digital tape cassettes (TCD-0058A/D) and 5 10" reel to reel analog tape copies of a performance of "Tennessee Strings" held by Tucker Theater, Middle Tennessee State University, 12 December 1987. The musical play, adapted by Jim Crabtree and Dennis Davenport from the book of the same title by ]Charles Wolfe, professor of English at MTSU, traces the roots and early history of country music in Tennessee from its beginnings to the establishment of the Grand Old Opry.

1 analog audio cassette (TCA-0057) of a lecture delivered prior to the performance by Charles Wolfe about writing the book along with comments by Jim Crabtree about adapting and producing the play and an introduction by Paul F. Wells, director, Center for Popular Music, MTSU, sponsor of the lecture.
