Provenance:

These video tapes were donated by Ute Dusing, program director, Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen, Mainz Germany. Earlier in the year Center director Paul Wells had worked with Gerold Hoffman, producer of these programs, to provide some still photographs used therein.
 

Scope and content:

These video tapes, which have neither titles nor credits, portray Afro-American gospel music in Detroit Michigan and according to correspondence with producer German Hoffman were also to have covered the social and musical roots of this style. The program narration is in German and has not been translated.
