Scope and Content:

Audio cassette tape of a performance by the South Union Shaker Quartet (Chandler Jefferson, soprano; Laura Nealy Burks, alto; Steve Burks, tenor; and Thomas Hines, bass) of South Union, Kentucky at Oakland Mansion, Murfreesboro, TN 14 May 1990. The performance included traditional Shaker hymns and songs and comments on Mother Ann Lee, Shaker dance, the colony at South Union and its museum, Shaker funeral songs and the post-Civil War Shakers. A complete list of the songs performed and a program from the performance follow.
