The Center is open to anyone doing research in an area supported by our collections.  Patrons are required to register upon each visit and to observe the rules for use of Center materials. Center materials do not circulate and may not be taken from the reading room under any circumstance.All materials are available for public use, though access to certain rare and/or fragile items may be limited. 

Photocopies or other reproductions of materials from the Center's collections may be available if permissible within the restrictions of the U.S. Copyright Law, and if the physical state of the items poses no problems to reproduction.  Fees are charged for all copying.  See our Reproductions: Policies and Fees page for further information.

Backpacks, purses, coats, briefcases, etc. may not be taken into the reading room, but must be left in the closet provided in the Center's Reading Room, or at the reference desk. Researchers who are handling special collection materials will be asked to work with pencil only.

We welcome inquiries about our collection and invite you to browse our On-line databases. If you need additional information about the collection, e-mail is our preferred form of communication. Response to requests
Center staff check the e-mail daily and will respond to most request within one work day, and always within two. 

Identifying the items
When requesting information about or a copy of any item listed in our databases, please provide us with both the ID number and the title of the item, and the collection in which it can be found (Sheet Music, Rare Books, etc.).

Interlibrary Loan
Items in the Center do not circulate and are not available for loan. However, photocopies or other reproductions may be available.
